Microneedling

Microneedling

What is Automated Micro-Needling?

Automated Micro-Needling (Percutaneous Collagen Induction Therapy or PCIT) is an innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance. During PCIT, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a healthier, more youthful dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles, scars and stretch marks. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels which allow platelet rich plasma, topical serums and creams to be absorbed more effectively into the skin for enhanced results. Collagen P.I.N. and RejuvaPen are the most advanced medical-grade automated micro-needling devices on the market.

About Collagen P.I.N.

Collagen P.I.N. is a Percutaneous Induction Therapeutic Micro-Needling Device which opens up a whole new horizon to skin treatments. Collagen P.I.N. may be used in addition to laser to achieve better results than with laser alone or may be used alone to achieve near laser like results. Collagen P.I.N. has several advantages over dermal needle rollers including:

  • Safety is always important. Collagen P.I.N. is inherently safer than dermal rollers, utilizing sterile, single-use surgical grade disposable needle tips.
  • The P.I.N. Safety Micro-needle Cartridge ensures that Collagen P.I.N. delivers greater efficiency and superior clinical results while maintaining the highest safety for both patient and provider.
  • Collagen P.I.N. is also safer for ALL skin types.
  • Faster truly is Better!!  Collagen P.I.N.’s powerful motor means quick penetration by the needles.  This creates a more comfortable experience that patients describe as a “vibrating tickle”.
  • Customizable Treatment for Each Patient.
  • Because the needle depth is always adjustable, this allows Collagen P.I.N. providers to customize your treatment to your individual needs.

How is the procedure done?

A sterile needle-tip containing 12 or 36 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Collagen P.I.N.™. Our aesthetician will then select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs and may apply a topical serum (usually, hyaluronic acid-based) to your cleaned skin. Hyaluronic acid helps the Collagen P.I.N. safety micro-needle cartridge glide smoothly across your skin’s surface while delivering the mechanical injury necessary to bring about the needed changes and simultaneously delivering Hyaluronic Acid (HA) — the building blocks for healthy new skin — deep into your skin.

Next, in a single motion, the Collagen P.I.N. will be gently glided across the skin in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered, resulting in thousands of microscopic channels throughout the treatment area. In addition to treatment depth, the number of passes is also customized according to the needs of each patient. The tiny micro-channels created stimulate your skin’s own natural ability heal itself, thereby creating new, healthier, more youthful appearing skin. This repair process, Collagen Induction Therapy, begins almost immediately. Fibroblasts — the cells that synthesize new collagen — are active for up to as much as one year after just on Collagen P.I.N. treatments. New collagen and elastin produce younger, healthier, plumper and firmer skin which aides in reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars and overall better tone and texture.

What are the many benefits from a Collagen P.I.N. treatment?

Innovative and effective, Collagen P.I.N. activates cellular regeneration to help tighten and lift skin, while minimizing common skin problems such as acne scars, fine lines, photo-aging, dull skin, poor texture, stretch marks and body scars.

How is Collagen P.I.N. different from the Dermal Needling Rollers?

Micro-needling rollers are the previous generation of needling devices. One of the many drawbacks is that dermal rollers have a fixed needle or penetration depth (i.e. 0.5 mm) which is not very conducive when treating an area like the face which requires different treatment depths due to the thickness of skin tissue, which varies in depth tremendously depending upon the area being treated. Therefore, having a fixed needle depth or penetration level is a huge drawback when trying to customize a treatment for consistency. Collagen P.I.N.™ has an adjustable needle depth that allows our aestheticians to vary the depth of penetration depending upon specific area needs throughout the entire treatment. This will allow us to properly address the specific needs of thinner skin on your lower eyelids, crow’s feet, temples forehead and neck. Additionally, in areas with thicker tissue like the lips/chin, cheeks, and décolletage, the necessary adjustments can easily be treated with 1 needle tip instead of 5 or 6 needle rollers. The other dramatic difference is in the type of injury that occurs using the Collagen P.I.N. versus a Dermal Needling Roller.

Collagen P.I.N.™ breaks up pigment mechanically and remodels the collagen without heat or light. Because no heat is generated by the treatment, PCIT is generally safe, comfortable and results are consistent. No heat also equals less downtime! Most Collagen P.I.N.™ patients have a healthy pink glow after the procedure, which lessens dramatically within 24 hours or less. Most patients are back to work the same day and out to dinner the same evening.

Who can be treated with Collagen P.I.N., and on what areas of the body?

Collagen P.I.N. can be used on all skin types to address a variety of concerns, and almost all areas of the body can be treated unless your medical provider determines otherwise, including: Face, Neck, Decolletage (Upper Chest), Back, Abdomen, Arms, and Legs

How many Collagen P.I.N. treatments will I need?

Typically a series of 3-6 Collagen P.I.N. treatments is recommended, depending upon your area of correction or concern. Your skincare professional will ultimately determine a treatment schedule based on your individual goals and desires. Treatments are usually spaced in 4 week intervals. Patients with deep wrinkles, advanced sun damage, stretch marks, or any type of scars, usually require 6 or more treatments to achieve the desired results.

What is the method of application for Collagen P.I.N.?

A sterile disposable needle cartridge, holding 12 to 42 micro needles is glided across the skin with the Collagen P.I.N. device that mechanically induces a micro injury to the desired depth for your skin by your medical provider. Collagen P.I.N. creates micro channels which allow topicals and serums to reach the true targeted areas, producing a much more efficacious result.

Will the Collagen P.I.N. procedure hurt?

Prior to your treatment with the Collagen P.I.N., the medical provider will apply a topical numbing agent. Most people say they feel almost nothing after having been pretreated with a topical numbing agent.

How long will it take to see results from my Collagen P.I.N. treatment?

Most all patients see results after the first Collagen P.I.N. treatment.

Individual results vary depending on individual skin health. It is most common to begin to see true changes or positive results as soon as 1-2 weeks after the first treatment. Many patients comment on positive changes in even less time (often, change is noted within just a few days).

How long will my Collagen P.I.N. results last?

Collagen P.I.N. produces results through the stimulation of growth factors and collagen, thereby promoting new skin cells to surface. As our skin ages, our collagen production naturally slows down. Your overall result will last longer when using an at home skin care regimen that includes a daily sunscreen and topical retinoin or similar product. Your medical provider is best suited to make this recommendation. New collagen & elastin formation in the skin are documented as visually and measurably improved as much as one year after just one treatment. However, a series of treatments is typically recommended for best results.

What will I look like after my Collagen P.I.N. treatment?

Collagen P.I.N. is considered a no-downtime treatment. Immediately after your treatment your skin will look slightly pink to moderately red. Your medical provider will recommend skin care products for your post care based on your individual skin, which will greatly minimize these symptoms and enhance your overall results.

Can I use Makeup after having my Collagen P.I.N. treatment?

We recommend avoiding makeup for at least 24 hours, or, alternatively, using a mineral based foundation, which typically will not promote bacterial infection. You may go back to your regular foundation within a few days.

What is the Cost of Collagen P.I.N.?

Collagen P.I.N. fees vary depending on the depth and aggressiveness of the treatment and transdermal products used.

Patient Testimonials

“The Collagen P.I.N. has offered me the one and only treatment that has changed my face. I’m finally clear of acne with no tiny red scars remaining, much smaller pores, and my skin is tighter and more vibrant! The most amazing part for me was how comfortable the treatment was. I was even able to go out to dinner later that same evening with friends. I never thought I would be comfortable not wearing foundation.”

– Ashley

“I’ve recently received three treatments with the Collagen P.I.N. and have had great results. I noticed a difference in my acne scars and overall complexion within 1-2 days. My co-workers commented on how smooth and healthy my skin appeared one day after the first treatment.

After each treatment I was a little red for about 3 days, a little dry and light peeling. I returned to work the next day with little to no pain. I would highly recommend the Collagen P.I.N. treatment to anyone wanting to enhance their appearance; it truly does make a difference.”
